What is a mattress in a box?

This refers to a mattress that arrives in a box for a very quick and easy set-up, for maximized convenience. You simply remove the plastic wrap and unroll, and the mattress will fully expand within minutes. Ashley Sleep offers 3 different mattress lines that come within a box, including the above-mentioned Gruve™, Essentials™, and Align™.

What should I look for in a mattress?

The most optimal mattress for you depends on what you find most comfortable. Many prefer a hybrid mattress because it connects the support of more traditional coils with a softer foam topper. These may feel more supportive than just a foam mattress, but they’re also a little pricier. A hybrid mattress is a perfect option if you're looking for balance. With a layer of gel memory foam on top of individually pocketed coils, you can enjoy both support and comfort without compromise.

A mattress with memory foam provides medium-firm support that presents you with a soft surface to sink into at night. Another perk is that memory foam mattresses are also particularly good at limiting bounce and motion transfer, so if you sleep with a partner, you won’t disrupt their sleep if you toss and turn. Our memory foam mattresses are crafted with best-quality gel-infused memory foam. If you’re partial to a firmer mattress, try our innerspring option, designed with individually wrapped coils for lumbar support and layers of poly foam, latex, and memory foam.

A more traditional innerspring mattress can also be comfortable and has its own benefits. Since they offer spring support, you’ll need an accompanying box spring — but many people do prefer the extra padding of these mattresses.

You'll find some of the best prices with our Ashley mattress deals and enjoy the convenience of choosing from different sizes and firmness options to find the perfect fit to suit your needs.

What are the five mattress sizes I can buy?
The five main mattress sizes that are available include twin, twin XL, full, queen, and king. They vary in length and width so you can find the right fit for you. A twin mattress is an ideal size for a child or to use in a spare room where you don’t have an ample amount of space. For teenagers or a slightly bigger spare room, we’d recommend a twin XL mattress or full mattress. Twin XL mattresses are the same width as a regular twin, but they’re just longer to accommodate taller people. A full mattress, on the other hand, has a bit more width.

Finally, for your personal bedroom, you can select a queen mattress or king mattress. These offer room for two adults to sleep comfortably and peacefully, side by side.

Why should I use a mattress protector?

Mattress protectors do just as the name suggests, they protect your mattress! This is important as they act as a waterproof barrier against sweat, dirt, bacteria, and prevent the mattress from getting stained or damaged. They keep your mattress in better shape and enhance its longevity by maintaining a higher degree of cleanliness. Bedgear offers a variety of mattress protectors that act as a guard against liquids and spills yet allow airflow and moisture-control.

When is it time for a new mattress?

Experts recommend replacing your mattress every six to eight years to experience maximized comfort every night. You spend one-third of your life sleeping! So it’s worth it to regularly upgrade something you spend so much time on. However, that’s just a recommendation — your individual mattress may last for a shorter or longer period of time, depending on its durability and how often you use it.

How long do mattresses usually last?

While six to eight years is a general guideline for mattress replacement, some types of mattresses are more durable. For example, a memory foam or hybrid mattress may provide more longevity and last up to 10 years before you start having comfort issues. However, for more traditional innerspring mattresses, we’d highly recommend considering a replacement by the eighth year, at the least.
